Celebrate UAE National Day 2025: What’s happening across Dubai and JLT

28 Nov, 2025 | Jolly Jenny

Every December, the UAE bursts into colour as the country prepares for Eid Al Etihad. Eid Al Etihad, also known as UAE National Day, marks the moment the seven emirates united on December 2nd, 1971. Today, it’s a celebration of heritage, togetherness and the vibrant communities that call the UAE home.

If you’re wondering when the holiday falls, what celebrations to expect, and where to enjoy the festivities across Dubai, including what’s happening right here in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), this guide has you covered.

When Eid Al Etihad 2025 is happening

Eid Al Etihad falls on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, marking the UAE’s 54th year of unity. The official public holidays for this year are Monday, December 1st, and Tuesday, December 2nd, giving residents a longer break to enjoy the celebrations.

Because the UAE allows certain holidays to be shifted to create extended weekends, this year’s setup means most residents can look forward to a three-day weekend, with many celebrations planned across the city between December 1st and 3rd. Whether you’re planning a staycation, a family day out or simply want to enjoy the atmosphere in your neighbourhood, it’s the perfect time to soak up the Spirit of the Union.

How the UAE celebrates Eid Al Etihad

In the weeks leading up to December 2nd, the country comes alive with the colours of the UAE flag. You’ll spot them everywhere, wrapped around towers, lining streets, decorating shopfronts and worn proudly by people of all ages.

Across the UAE, celebrations often include:

  • Flag-raising ceremonies and Flag Day, which takes place every year on 3rd November
  • Performances of Al Ayala and other traditional dances
  • Cultural shows, poetry recitals and family-friendly activities
  • Special events at heritage villages, museums and historic districts

It’s a time when communities celebrate the country’s heritage while honouring the vision that shaped the UAE into what it is today.

Where to see Eid Al Etihad fireworks in Dubai

Fireworks are a highlight of Eid Al Etihad, and Dubai always delivers spectacular shows to mark the occasion.

Citywide fireworks and light shows

Global Village is one of the most popular places to catch fireworks, with nightly shows typically lighting up the sky at 9:00 PM from November 29th to December 3rd. Expect themed entertainment, drone shows and a festive atmosphere throughout the park.

Tips for planning your fireworks night

If you’re heading out to watch the shows:

  • Arrive early to secure a comfortable viewing spot
  • Use public transport where possible to avoid traffic
  • Check updated schedules on the day, as show timings can change
  • Bring water, comfortable shoes and something warm for the cooler evenings
