DMCC remains fully committed to enhancing the quality, sustainability, and liveability of Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT).

In line with this commitment, planned essential maintenance and enhancement works have been taking place at Lake D since mid-August to improve water quality, strengthen infrastructure, and preserve the community’s aesthetics.

We are aware of information circulating regarding future development around Lake D, and would like to clarify the following:

Lake D Enhancement – Our Objectives

Lake D enhancement works are being undertaken which are designed to maintain the lake’s environmental quality as well as ensure that the lake area is upgraded, more accessible, and better integrated with community facilities.
As part of the broader project, a portion of the lake area will be redeveloped to introduce a new community and retail hub.
The new community and retail hub will bring additional lifestyle, retail, and family-oriented amenities that will enhance daily life and complement the surrounding public spaces.
Importantly, Lake D and the waterfront appeal it offers will continue to be a much-loved feature of the community.

How the Community will Benefit

The improvements are designed with the community at its heart and with the specific aim of adding amenity, accessibility, and visual appeal all whilst ensuring that the lake remains a defining feature of JLT.
The project will feature landscaped areas, shaded walkways, and publicly accessible zones that blend seamlessly with the lakefront environment.
Development and enhancement works will be phased to minimise, as much as possible, disruption and maintain continuity in community life.
Once completed, the project is expected to have a positive impact on community life and enhance JLT’s reputation as one of Dubai’s most desirable places to live, work and visit.

Drainage progress

Controlled drainage is underway; water levels are lowering in stages under strict health, safety and environmental protocols. Pumps and site controls are in place to ensure a smooth and safe process.

Community measures

Temporary wayfinding and safety signage will be installed around the community, with pedestrian access maintained where possible with marked diversions. Odour-neutralising treatments and pest-control measures will be applied in line with Dubai Municipality guidance.

Maintenance activity

Lakebed deep clean is ongoing to enhance water quality, strengthen infrastructure, and preserve lake aesthetics. Dust and noise are being actively managed during daytime working hours.

What’s next

Lake D will continue to be drained in phases, followed by a full lakebed clean and essential maintenance. Regular updates will be shared through official DMCC and JLT channels and community notice boards.

Timeline & process

The lake will be drained in carefully planned stages to ensure the process is smooth, safe, and considerate to the surrounding community and environment.

Daytime noise between 8 AM and 6 PM related to cleaning and minor construction works.
Dust, which will be managed using barriers and suppression systems.
Occasional short-term traffic delays (5-10 minutes) due to equipment movement.

Impact on residents & businesses

Walkways around the lake may be temporarily redirected, but pedestrian access will be maintained and clearly signposted where possible.
Businesses may experience minor adjustments to foot traffic or visibility, depending on proximity to the lake.
We will be proactively deploying a range of treatments to minimise odours and pests.

Exposed sediment may lead to temporary algae growth, odours or an increase in pests.
DMCC is implementing odour-neutralising treatments, pest control, and deep cleaning in line with Dubai Municipality guidelines.

All works are being conducted under strict Dubai Municipality health, safety and environmental (HSE) protocols.
Pumps are managing drainage in a controlled manner to limit any associated risk.
