Noren brings neighbourhood Japanese dining to JLT

2 Oct, 2026

From quality Japanese cuisine to a welcoming neighbourhood atmosphere, Noren is quickly finding its place in JLT. Marking their first independent restaurant, Ilir Caushi and Pawel Kazanowski are starting a new chapter with a Japanese dining concept they believe has been missing from Dubai's dining landscape: a restaurant that exists simply to be a restaurant.

Noren Restaurant - Ilir and Pawel

Named after the traditional Japanese fabric curtain that hangs at the entrance of restaurants and shops, Noren is designed as a natural part of everyday life.

From light and crispy cauliflower karaage to California maki made with fresh crab meat; to a delicate black miso cod that melts in your mouth and a hearty king crab served with Hokkaido lemon butter, the menu invites diners to discover something new, warm, and comforting.

We caught up with Ilir and Pawel to learn more about the new addition to JLT's vibrant dining scene, the menu, and how they've easily integrated into our community.

What inspired Noren to come to life?

We wanted to create a place for everybody, a restaurant you can visit for a special occasion or no occasion at all. At its heart, Noren is a neighbourhood Japanese restaurant serving high-quality food in a relaxed, welcoming setting. We wanted it to feel special without ever feeling overly formal.

How would you describe Noren's concept and personality in a few words?

Fun, quality-driven and unmistakably neighbourhood. Noren is vibrant and approachable, with great food at its core and a personality that never takes itself too seriously.

What are the must-try dishes at Noren?

There are quite a few, but we always recommend the tomato carpaccio, chu toro jalapeño, cauliflower karaage, spicy avocado maki, Okonomi onion rings and homemade fresh tofu. For a main course, the aka yuzu-kosho Chilean sea bass is a standout.

How has the JLT community responded to Noren?

The response has been incredibly positive, even more enthusiastic than we anticipated. It feels as though JLT was ready for a restaurant like Noren. Guests have particularly embraced the combination of quality, accessible prices and an excellent wine list that remains genuinely affordable.

Why did you choose JLT?

JLT has a strong sense of community. It is home to families, professionals and long-time residents, and we love that people can walk between the clusters and feel connected to the neighbourhood.
Noren was designed to be the kind of restaurant people can visit regularly, not simply save for special occasions, so JLT felt like a natural home for us.

Open from lunch through late evening, guests can stop by for a quick beverage or bites at the counter, settle in for a leisurely business lunch, enjoy dinner with family and friends, or explore the full tasting menu and enter the world of finer Japanese cuisine. Book your table here.
