Raising a Family in JLT: A Parent’s Guide

7 Sep, 2026

Raising a family in JLT means much of your children’s everyday world stays close to home. From nearby clinics when they need care, nurseries that support their first years of learning, to parks and social events that give them space to play and spend time with others.

For you, that makes family life easier to organise. For your kids, it means growing up with familiar places, routines and faces. Here’s what you need to know about raising kids with JLT as your home.

Keeping Them Healthy

Pediatric Clinics in JLT

Aster Clinic JLT in Red Diamond Building, JLT runs a paediatrics department with three paediatricians. Aster Pharmacy is next door, so a prescription does not mean a second trip.

Armada Medical Centre in Cluster P provides paediatric care and neonatology, with an on-site pharmacy. Useful if you need pregnancy care, newborn checks and later appointments all in one place.

V Hope Medical Centre in Cluster T provides paediatric care for newborns, infants, children and adolescents, including routine check-ups, vaccinations, growth and development monitoring, and treatment for common childhood illnesses.

Paediatric Dentists in JLT

German Dental & Neuromuscular Clinic in Cluster W offers paediatric dentistry for when your little one has tooth pain or any dental problem, with appointments available for routine check-ups as well as urgent concerns.

NOA Dental Clinic in Cluster X has been running since 2005 and covers paediatric, preventive and orthodontic dentistry. The same clinic can take your child from early check-ups through to later orthodontic care.

The Lakes Clinic in Cluster F provides children’s dental exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, fillings, extractions and orthodontic care.

Vaccinations and the nursery paperwork

The UAE National Immunisation Programme provides children’s vaccinations free of charge at government health centres.

Children’s vaccination schedule according to The National Immunisation Program:

  • 2-month-old vaccination
  • 4-month-old vaccination
  • 6-month-old vaccination
  • 1-year-old vaccination
  • 18-month-old vaccination
  • 5-year-old vaccination

Vaccination requirements and timings may change, so do check the current process through Dubai Health’s children’s vaccination service.

When nursery enrolment comes around, you will also need an up-to-date DHA vaccination card for your child, alongside their passport, Emirates ID and birth certificate. Keeping those documents together saves a scramble when applications open.

Outdoor Activities in JLT

Kids need somewhere to burn off their energy, and Cluster O offers plenty of options to skate, kick a ball, or shoot some hoops. The JLT Skate Park is free and open daily from 8 am to 10 pm, with space for scooters, skates, and skateboards. And if they still have energy to spare, the JLT Football Pitches and JLT Basketball Court are right there too.

Keeping Them Nurtured

Family Events in JLT

Socialising is an important part of growing up. With this in mind, JLT hosts regular events that give families opportunities to spend time together and children the chance to see familiar faces outside school or nursery. Annual Cinema Under the Stars brings families onto the grass for an evening together, while the JLT Winter Festival brings Santa, the tree lighting and another reason for children to spot friends around the community. More celebrations and family activities are coming throughout the year, so stay tuned for more details.

Growing Up in a Multicultural Community

Diwali, Lunar New Year and the Eid Al Adha bring even more celebrations to JLT, giving children the opportunity to experience different traditions as a natural part of everyday life. Over time, the same faces begin to reappear at the park, during film nights and at the Winter Festival. Birthday tables bring together children from different countries and cultures, and friendships stretch beyond the school or nursery gate.

Keep up with upcoming celebrations and family events on the JLT What's On page.

Everything they need, close to home

The best family neighbourhoods make everyday life a little easier while giving your children plenty to grow into. Friends nearby, a park they know by heart, care and learning close to home, and familiar faces around the neighbourhood all become part of their world. As they grow, JLT grows familiar with them.
